Chocolate Chip Trail Mix Cookies

I’ve been cheating on baking and blogging with books. You may have noticed I haven’t posted any recipes in a while. This is because I was having an affair with the Hunger Games and Fifty Shades of Grey trilogies. I don’t know how I’m going to explain this to my oven. Maybe something like…

“Oven, I’ve been unfaithful. I only meant for it to be one book, one time. I thought about you with the turn of every page. I spent time away from you, reading, and for that I am wrong. Looking back, I realize what we had together was something special. More special than any piece of literature. Together we can bake bread better than Peeta Mellark. We can cook six-course meals more delicious than the Capitol of Panem. We can make food richer than Christian Grey. I’m sorry, Oven. I love you. After all, a book may be fifty shades of grey but you, Oven, are the one perfect shade of blue.”

Recipe
1 c. butter
1 c. sugar
1/2 c. brown sugar
1 t. vanilla
1 egg
1/4 t. salt
1/2 t. baking soda
2 1/2 c. flour
1 1/2 c. trail mix containing chocolate ( or 1/2 c. chocolate chips and 1 c. trail mix that doesn’t have chocolate already in it)

Using a stand mixer or electric mixers, cream together sugar and butter. Add egg and vanilla. In a separate bowl mix together salt, baking soda, and flour. Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix til well combine. Stir in trail mix by hand. Drop Tbsp-fulls onto an ungreased baking sheet and bake at 350 for about 7 minutes.

  1. I hope your oven is forgiving! lol. I’m hooked on those books too, so I get it! Halfway thru 2nd Hunger book. These cookies look yummy!

  2. With these cookies, no one will ever be “hungry” again and you won’t have to kill anyone to get them now.
Don’t have a comment on the “grey” thing as I haven’t read the books yet! I have a feeling I will be reading the book AND EATING THE COOKIES.
