If you’ve noticed, I’m a little behind on my blogging. Life’s been absolutely crazy these days with new home construction! Last week I think I spent a total of 19 hours in The Home Depot. This is probably because I am the most indecisive person on the planet. I venture into the store with the task ahead, of say for example, choosing wood flooring… I thoroughly inspect each and every detail of the 40 different varieties the store offers. I contemplate the pros vs. the cons. I stand mid isle with my Iphone in hand googling consumer reviews. Then I ask a store attendant their opinion. I bring home five thousand samples to consider them some more… I test each wood square for quality. I scratch them with my truck keys, I plummet the sharpest kitchen utensils on them from counter height, and finally, the true test of durability, I give each to Tide to chew on for a minute or two. I think about it some more…. all to return back to Home Depot the next day and repeat the process all over again.
The store associates there are really beginning to hate me.
Maybe I’m delusional, but I swear, when they see a blonde girl with a handwritten list of 25 items wandering around the store aimlessly, they make themselves scarce. I end up having to hunt down one of them to help me, usually my prey ends up being the old age “retired-but-just-wanted-a-second-job-for-the-fun-of-it” man who couldn’t get away quick enough. I scout him out, vigilantly chase him around the corners of isles, jumping orange obstacles. Finally, when I have him cornered, I go in for the attack. I make eye contact and he realizes… he is doomed. He now must escort me through the store and scavenge for every last oddity on my list all while answering my million-and-one nagging questions about how to complete the project at hand. Ugh, I can just see the camaraderie in the employee lounge, they probably gather to make fun of me then place bets on what sucker will get stuck with me the next day. Maybe if I bring cookies next time they’ll be more inclined to help me.
